On January 25, 2022, Wrestling Canada Lutte and Russ Pawlyk, President of the Friends of the World Cup of Wrestling mutually agreed to the postponement of the 2022 Canada Wrestling Trials.

Ms. Kennedy, Chair of the Friends of the World Cup of Wrestling Society host organizing committee, supports WCL's decision to ensure the safety and well-being of all stakeholders and recognizes the importance of sufficient athlete training required to host a successful competition.

Friends of the World Cup Wrestling Society is well-equipped and absolutely prepared to move forward with the new date and will work in coordination with our local organizations, volunteers and businesses to host a successful event. We are encouraged and continue to look forward to hosting athletes and team members from across Canada in a safe manner for all.

Russ Pawlyk is pleased to announce the new date approved by WCL and looks forward to hosting the event on May 26-29, 2022 in the Edmonton Capital region at the University of Alberta.

This decision was made in cooperation with the Events and Hosting Committee and feedback from the memberships, medical advisors and coaches. We are grateful for their engagement and understanding to keep our elite athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers safe.

In addition, we would like to thank Kelly Rich and the Event and Hosting Committee for working out all the ramifications for the upcoming WCL sanctioned national tournaments and providing their recommendations to the membership for review, discussion and implementation.

Russ Pawlyk and J.J. Kennedy
